In her work, Agnieszka Mastalerz explores the mechanisms of control and the processes that influence and exploit individuals. The artist uses a poetic visual language to analyze restrictive rules established within intimate relationships, communities, states, and companies, as well as in relation to the natural environment. Mastalerz's works are included in the collections of the Fondazione in Between Art Film by Beatrice Bulgari, the European Investment Bank, the Ergo Hestia Group, and the Warsaw Ghetto Museum, as well as in private collections.
Drawing on the intimate rituals of the past, the Nodes project aimed to draw attention to the current commercial-industrial context, where exotic orchids are mass-produced. Although technology allows for the cultivation of nearly identical plants, the final touch is performed by women who adapt the orchids to a standardized aesthetic—shaping them and trimming off any unnecessary parts.
