Chang Bui creates expressive abstractions that result from experimental work on paper, silk and ceramics using wax and pigments. Her work can be summarised as a modern adaptation of batik techniques. She speaks in colours and symbols without attributing much meaning to them; she is guided solely by her intuition, so that as a maker she becomes a medium for creating new, unfamiliar languages of art.​
