Natalia Poniatowska is an artist who explores the boundaries between fine art and documentary photography in her work, drawing inspiration from her surroundings and her own experiences. Poniatowska has exhibited her photography internationally, winning numerous awards, including the 30 under 30 Female Photographers Award (2024) and Female in Focus (2020).
This photograph captures the human desire for freedom and connection. The diver in flight represents a leap of trust—suspended between land and water, surrendering control to the depths. This dive, arms outstretched, symbolizes trust in the world and the thrill of vulnerability. The faded chalk fish on the concrete edge adds a playful connection between humanity and nature, suggesting our instinct to return to something primal and limitless. The surrounding swimmers, each immersed in their own rhythm in the vast blue-green space, reflect the diversity of human experience in a shared embrace of nature. Some swim, others float, and still others simply exist in the water, symbolizing different ways of finding peace, joy, or contemplation. This photograph reflects the beauty of surrendering to nature and trusting its vastness. It reminds us of life's fleeting, joyful moments, the courage to leap into the unknown, and the universal need to connect with something greater than ourselves—a need that transcends age, culture, or time. Here, in the sun and sea, human life is both lonely and deeply connected in a dance with infinity. /GPT chat describes my work 6/65
