'' Sometimes photography is like painting, which is not surprising, as painting is its roots and one of its greatest inspirations. Photography, in turn, was the greatest inspiration and starting point for filmmaking. Edward Hopper, whose paintings were exceptionally cinematic, knew this and utilized it. As a filmmaker and photographer, from the very beginning of my visual career, sometimes more, sometimes less consciously, I was inspired by the paintings of this outstanding artist, who could so beautifully capture color, light, and mood, framing them in a perfect composition.
