Nan Goldin (born 1953) is an American photographer considered one of the most important figures in contemporary art. Her work stems from personal experiences and the artistic milieus of New York City in the 1970s and 1980s, a time of rebellion, intimacy, marginalization, and authenticity. Goldin creates moving, autobiographical photographic series documenting everyday life, corporeality, relationships, and communities.
